Version: 26 October 2026
Who we are: CitySite Studio is a trading name of Culture & Clarity Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company no. 16795837. In these terms, "we" means Culture & Clarity Ltd and "you" means the customer. We are not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.
These terms sit alongside our main terms of sale and our privacy notice (citysitestudio.com/privacy).
1.1 We build your website offline from a design you choose and the details you give us. You get two rounds of changes before launch.
1.2 The build is a one-off payment. On a paid plan, we then hand the site over at launch by publishing it for you. On the Free plan, we hand over the site files for you to publish yourself.
1.3 What’s included. We will use reasonable efforts to provide the following as part of your build. Nothing in this clause is a guarantee of any particular result.
(a) Design. Your site is built and fitted to your business from our reusable designs, templates and components. Section 3 (who owns what) applies.
(b) Copywriting. We draft wording for your site. You review and approve it before launch, and you are responsible for making sure it is accurate and lawful.
(c) SEO foundations and Google Business Profile. We set up your site's search basics and help optimise your Google Business Profile on a best-efforts basis. We do not guarantee search rankings, traffic, enquiries or leads.
(d) Analytics. Where enabled, we add privacy-friendly analytics (currently Cloudflare Web Analytics, as described in our Data Processing Agreement).
(e) Social media. We add links to, or embeds of, your own social media accounts. You remain responsible for those accounts and their content.
(f) Hosting. On any paid plan, we host your site and use reasonable efforts to keep the hosting secure and running. On the Free plan, section 2 applies.
(g) Ongoing maintenance. On the PlainAnswer Business plan only, we make reasonable updates and carry out upkeep of your site, using reasonable efforts. This does not include new pages, new features or redesigns.
(h) 30 days of launch support. For 30 days after your site goes live, we will fix faults in our work and make small adjustments you reasonably request.

3.1 You own your content: your text, photos, logos and business information. You also own the website files we make for you once the build is paid for. Our reusable design templates, layouts and code components remain ours; we grant you a permanent, non-exclusive licence to use them as part of your website, including after you leave us.
3.2 Domain names. On a paid plan, we register the domain in your name as the registrant and manage it for you, paying the renewal fees while you stay on a paid plan. The domain is yours. If you ask, we will transfer it to you (section 5).
3.3 The PlainAnswer software stays ours. You get the right to use it while you have an account.
4.1 You can cancel a paid plan at any time, by email or from your PlainAnswer dashboard. Your plan stops at the end of the current billing month, and we do not charge you again.
4.2 You move to the Free plan. Your assistant keeps working within Free plan limits.
4.3 Notice to move your site. The Free plan does not include hosting or a domain. We will keep your site online for 30 days from the end of your paid plan (the "migration period") and email you to confirm the date.
4.4 During the migration period we will:
4.5 At the end of the migration period, we stop hosting the site. If you haven't moved it, it will go offline. You can still download your files for a further 60 days; after that we delete our copy.
5.1 We will give you the transfer (EPP/auth) code, or move the domain into your own registrar account, within 5 working days of your request.
5.2 The domain fee. We transfer the domain to you with all its remaining paid-up time. Domain fees are paid a year at a time and can't be recovered from the registrar, so we don't refund the fee; the remaining term you receive takes the place of a refund.
5.3 We won't hold your domain back because of a dispute about other fees.
6.1 Downloading your files and transferring your domain are free.
6.2 If you want us to set the site up on your new host for you, there is a one-off handover fee of £75 (UK customers) or $99 (US customers). No VAT is added.
6.3 We tell you the fee before we do the work, and you can always do the move yourself with the files.
7.1 If a paid-plan payment fails, we will email you:
7.2 If you pay at any point before deletion, we restore your paid plan and the site.
7.3 We may stop renewing a domain we registered for you if it comes up for renewal after Day 28 and you haven't asked for a transfer. We will warn you in the final notice.
8.1 Website files: see sections 4 and 7.
8.2 PlainAnswer data (your FAQs, knowledge, conversations and leads):
8.3 We handle personal data as described in our privacy notice. For your visitors' data, you are the controller and we act as your processor. The Data Processing Agreement in the schedule to these terms sets out how we do this.
9.1 Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
9.2 Otherwise, our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us in those 12 months.
9.3 For business customers, we are not liable for loss of profit, business, revenue or data, or for indirect loss.
9.4 We use third-party providers (Netlify, Stripe, Fireworks AI and others) and are not responsible for their outages. We will tell you promptly if one affects your site.
We may update these terms or plan prices. We will email you at least 30 days before a change that affects you. If you don't agree, you can cancel under section 4 before it takes effect.
11.1 Most customers buy for their business, and the Consumer Contracts Regulations' cancellation right does not apply to business purchases.
11.2 If you are a consumer (buying mainly for personal, non-business use) and you order online or by phone, you have 14 days to cancel the build or a plan and get a refund.
11.3 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring claims in their local courts.
